Cosmetic Dental Care
At Gennaoui Rigden Family Dental, we want our patients to have beautiful, healthy smiles! Whether you are looking for a subtle change or a complete transformation, we have a number of treatments to enhance your smile.
Cosmetic treatments refer to procedures that improve the esthetic or appearance of the teeth and gums. The techniques used can address chipped, worn, misshapen, discolored, or missing teeth. Common cosmetic procedures include teeth whitening, dental bonding, crowns, porcelain veneers, Invisalign, and more. Although the end goal is an improved appearance, your smile’s health is often improved as well.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Straightening your teeth with invisible braces, such as Invisalign, gives patients an effective, yet subtle way to straighten their teeth. Clear aligner trays are comfortable, removable, and discreet. Using gentle pressure, the teeth gradually shift into their appropriate positions.
Invisalign uses a series of trays, each with a different placement of pressure. A set of trays is worn for a couple weeks before it is discarded for a new set. This promotes the continuous movement of the teeth. Since the trays are removable, patients can still enjoy their favorite foods. The clear aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day for optimal results.
Dental implants are a revolutionary replacement for missing teeth. The implant itself replaces the missing tooth root. It is then attached to an abutment and a restoration to complete the entire tooth structure. One implant can replace a single tooth, or multiple implants can replace several teeth and provide support for a denture.
More than one appointment is needed to complete a restoration with implants. Once the implant is placed in the jaw, the mouth is given time to heal as the bone accepts and grows around the implant. This takes several months. Then, the abutment is attached to connect the crown or denture. Candidates for dental implants need adequate healthy bone structure. Check with our dental team to determine if you are a candidate for an implant procedure.
Veneers are a versatile cosmetic treatment and may be an alternative to dental crowns. These thin shells of porcelain are bonded to the front of the teeth to alter their appearance. Veneers can be used on a single tooth or multiple for an entire smile makeover.
Porcelain veneers disguise dental imperfections, such as discolored, chipped, misaligned, or uneven teeth. Veneers create a more uniform, even smile. They look natural and are long-lasting.
A simple, yet dramatic way to transform your smile is with teeth whitening. Teeth that are stained or discolored can be safely and effectively brightened through professional whitening treatments. By whitening with your dentist, you know that your teeth are healthy and beautiful. Your teeth will be examined first to ensure there are no problems or restorations that may interfere with your whitening goals.
With our professional at-home whitening kit, you will receive custom trays and a bleaching agent. This ensures less sensitivity, reduced slipping, and better coverage as the trays are designed to fit your mouth. Additionally, you have the convenience of whitening based on your own time and schedule.
Full Mouth Restoration
If you have severely damaged, worn, or missing teeth, more than just the appearance of your smile is affected. The health and function of your entire oral cavity is at risk. Poor oral health has a negative effect on eating, speaking, and even your confidence to smile.
Restorative and cosmetic dental procedures can boost your self-esteem and improve your oral health. The exact procedures used depend on your individual situation but may include any combination of treatments, such as porcelain veneers, dental crowns, bridges, extractions, or dental implants. Our goal is to give you a healthy, beautiful smile worth showing off.
Porcelain Inlays / Onlays
Inlays and onlays are an alternative to fillings. They are strong and sturdy, so they can restore weakened back teeth. Inlays and onlays are able to cover and protect teeth with larger areas of decay. Unlike crowns which cover the entire tooth, inlays and onlays only cover a portion of the tooth and are more conservative when it comes to preparing the tooth.
Since they are made of porcelain, inlays and onlays are matched to your natural tooth color to produce a natural appearance. They are made of the same material as crowns and bridges making them durable and long-lasting.
Tooth loss may occur due to gum disease, severe decay, or trauma. Missing teeth may then be replaced with dentures, which are removable restorations. Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth, while full or complete dentures replace an entire arch.
Without teeth in place, your ability to chew and speak is affected. Replace your missing teeth and restore your smile with dentures. Several materials and types of dentures are available. We will discuss your tooth replacement options with you to help you make an informed decision.
Bruxism involves regularly grinding or clenching your teeth. You may hold your teeth tightly together or press and slide your top and bottom teeth back and forth over each other. These actions often cause jaw pain and can cause wear on your teeth over time. Patients with bruxism often experience headaches, toothaches, facial or jaw pain, worn enamel, loose teeth, and fatigue.
Bruxism can be diagnosed by checking for evidence of wear from teeth grinding and discussing your symptoms. Wearing a night guard will help protect your teeth from unnecessary wear and tear and reduce your discomfort.
A night guard is customized from impressions of your teeth. It is made of a thermo-plastic material to comfortably fit in your mouth. A night guard fits over your top teeth to alleviate symptoms and prevent wear on your teeth.
